Welcome to the Homepage of NAS
| The Network Architectures and Services (NAS) Group |
|
The NAS group is chaired by Professor Van Mieghem and belongs to the Department of Telecommunications in the faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) of Delft University of Technology.
NAS educates and conducts research in the broad area of complex networks, ranging from data communications and Internetworking, other man-made infrastructures such road-traffic networks, to biologicial, brain, social and financial sector networks.
The emphasis lies on understanding these complex real-world networks by topological as well as spectral studies. Moreover, NAS has expertise on concepts (routing, robustness) of network architectures, on the performance analysis of quality of service aware protocols and Internet behavior and on strategic and business oriented challenges for network operators.
PhD vacancy "A network perspective on Cyber Crime":
Within the area of Complex Networks (Internet, power grids, ...) and our community (banks, large companies, government websites) there is a large interest and support to carry out more research in the area of Cyber Crime. The proposed research will address a) weaknesses within networks, f.e. by studying the routine of hackers, b) network techniques: measurements within IP headers, anomaly detection, firewall technology and c) epidemical protocols: virus and malware spreading mechanisms. The aim of the work is to develop methods to increase the networks’ resistance against malware, denial or service attacks of other criminal ways of entering (or leading to disfunctioning of the network service).
Within the group NAS, there is expertise on Internet measurements, network robustness and epidemics. We are looking for a brilliant PhD candidate, with a deep interest in all aspects of Cyber Crime, who will combine the above three pilars into a unified approach towards a defence of networks against malicous use(rs).
Applicants need a "B-screening AIVD attest" or should be EU citizen due to the cooperation with NL/EU security companies and government agencies.
Applicants are invited to send, before June 1, 2012, an extensive CV containing a motivation, awards, prizes and ranking to Professor Van Mieghem ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). For more information click here. |
